1. I am a total nerd and goofball who loves a good laugh and basically any animal on the face of the earth (I currently foster dogs, but want to open my own animal sanctuary one day)!
2. On a more professional note, I am a passionate visual media creator, storyteller, and designer. My specialities are in videography and photography, but I also love to dabble in graphic design and front-end web development. Give me the task of creating or capturing anything digital and I'm in my element!
3. "Have courage and be kind". Did I just quote Cinderella? Yes. But while seemingly simple, I find so much meaning in this little mantra. I believe humans are incredibly capable of kindness and so inherently compassionate. I try to incorporate this vibe into all the work I do. We've just got to spread the love y'all!
I left my corporate job (and security blanket) in digital marketing to set out on a new venture that could incorporate my passion for creativity and the causes I fight for into my professional life.
There's nothing I love more than capturing the genuine essence of the people (and pets) I work with! I'm not about the stiff poses and unnatural expressions. My goal is to capture you just the way you are, and the experience of the moment. I like to create a very natural, relaxed environment at shoots so clients can feel comfortable to be themselves. Creating should be fun and collaborative! Not stiff and uncomfortable.
Lastly, I structured MKM in a way that gives back to the causes near and dear to my heart; animal rescue, sanctuaries, and rehabilitation efforts. 10% of all profits are donated to organizations fighting to end animal cruelty and to spread compassion for all animals. If you purchase a service through MKM, you are given the option of which organization you'd like to see benefit from that service. Lastly, MKM services are offered to such organizations free of charge.
You've go to do what gives you purpose, am I right?
My career began in product marketing for the Schwan Food Company after graduating with a B.S. in Marketing and International Business from the Carlson School of Management. After roughly two years of product marketing experience, I transitioned into a digital marketing role for several years, managing a multi-million dollar e-mail program, along with the SMS and push notification programs. It was during this experience that my passion for design and content creation was ignited.
After leaving Schwan's and taking a new job managing a large website (and its user experience) for Polaris Industries' Off-Road Vehicle division, I realized that I was being drawn to the more creative and technical aspects of running the site. So, I made the decision to pursue a master's degree in Digital Media Design from Harvard as a full-time student.
I'm currently still in my program and will graduate in May 2019! My areas of focus are photography, videography, multi-media design, and front-end web development. I've got to say, I'm happier than ever.
